Earth Day at The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is all about recycling so you could say we celebrate Earth Day every day.

The Salvation Army has always been about recycling and decreasing the amount of trash in landfills. When you donate to us, not only are you helping other families in need but you are also helping our community become more eco-friendly. Every donation is one less item at your local landfill. Some donations we can't sell but that doesn't mean we throw them out. In fact, our warehouse here in Rockford, Illinois recycles tons of pounds used goods every single day. We also work with other recycling companies who are able to reuse almost anything that most people would just throw away. 

So, how can you help? Well, all of our stores are also donations centers! That means you can drive up to any store and donate your gently used items. We also have donation bins next to our stores in case you come when the store is closed. If you have bigger items to donate, like furniture or mattresses, we can pick it up for free.
